The South African Civil Aviation Authority offers courses in different departments in aviation industry.  Check below for courses you can study under SACAA.

 

 

 

AERONAUTICAL ENGINEER
Develops, designs, and tests aircraft,
missiles, satellites and the related systems of flight vehicles.

REQUIREMENTS
• Matric/Grade 12
• Qualification with Level 5 on:
Pure Mathematics;
Physical Science; English

WHERE CAN I STUDY
• University of the Witwatersrand

 

AIRCRAFT MAINTENANCE ENGINEER

Diagnoses, maintains, replaces or overhauls aircraft engines.

REQUIREMENTS 
• Matric/Grade 12
• Qualification with Level 4 on:
Pure Mathematics;
Physical Science; English

WHERE CAN I STUDY
• SAA Technical School
• Denel Technical Academy
• Paramount Technical Training Academy
• South African Air Force

 

PILOT (REMOTELY PILOTED
AIRCRAFT SYSTEMS)

REQUIREMENTS
Operates a remotely piloted aircraft (RPAS/
drone). Some popular uses for drones are
aerial surveillance, filmmaking, land surveying and disaster relief to inaccessible
places.
• Must be at least 18 years

PILOT (FIXED WING OR
HELICOPTER)
Flies aircraft, transports passengers and
cargo across the country and around the
world. They are responsible for the safety
of the aircraft, pass

REQUIREMENTS
• Matric/Grade 12
• Qualification with Level 5 on:
Pure Mathematics
WHERE CAN I STUDY

• Flight Training Schools

 

CABIN CREW
Checks passengers’ names and destinations, enforces safety rules, serves
food, oversees passengers’ comfort,
and directs emergency evacuation
procedures.

REQUIREMENTS 
• Matric/Grade 12
• Qualification with Level 4 on: English
• Must be at least 18 years
• The minimum height required is
dependent on the specific airline.

Cabin Crew Schools

 

AIR TRAFFIC CONTROLLER
Responsibilities include, tower control,
which handles all aircraft movements,
approach control which monitors aircraft
traffic. They also provide information and
advisory services like weather, routes, altitude and speed.

REQUIREMENTS 
• Matric/Grade 12
• Qualification with Level 4 on:
Pure Mathematics; English
• Must be at least 18 years
